SW1003 Small Size 6*19MM 0.2A Glass Type Mercury Tilt Switch

The structure of the mercury tilt switch is very simple. On the outside is a sealed cylindrical insulating shell with a length of about 30 mm and a diameter of about 10 mm. It contains about one-fifth of mercury. Two wires drawn from the inside are fixed at one end of the shell. This is a mercury tilt switch.

Because of gravity, mercury droplets will flow to the lower part of the container. If two electrodes are contacted at the same time, the switch will close the circuit and turn on the switch.

The shape of the container will also affect the condition of mercury droplets contacting the electrode. For example, the postal bomb uses an inverted V shape, which makes the recipient tilt the postal package without knowing it, close the circuit, brake the explosion, but send the package. People (or parcel carriers or manufacturers) don't.
