How to Specify a Vibration Sensor or Switch for a Compact Product
Choosing a vibration sensor or switch begins with the event the product must detect. The team should define whether it needs a simple vibration indication, a response to a particular movement, or a signal that remains dependable in a noisy operating environment.
Do not select from the category name alone. Record the mounting position, available space, expected vibration source, operating temperature, supply and output interface. An SMT vibration sensor and a spring vibration switch may suit different mechanical and electrical constraints, even when both are discussed as vibration sensing.
The brief should also state how the finished product will be checked. Agree on the trigger condition, the mounting tolerance and the test setup before choosing a part. Then confirm the final selection against the current product specification and test conditions.
